“The Lord said to Moses, `Say to the Israelites: 'Any man or woman who wrongs another in any way & so is unfaithful to the Lord is guilty and must confess the sin they have committed. They must make full restitution for the wrong they have done, add a 5th of the value to it & give it all to the person they have wronged.ʼ”
~Numbers 5:5-7
God makes clear here that we will wrong others. We will wrong Him. We will be held responsible for those wrongs.
But He also makes a way out. For the Israelites back then it was a financial loss of money, livestock or food to payback what was lost, damaged or stolen.
Today we have the sacrifice of Jesus perfect life on the cross. Romans 3 tell us for our time that 'everyone has sinned and fallen short of God's make of excellence.' but again we are not left there. He also tells us of how Jesus righteousness can become ours.
Not just faith in a possible outcome, or faith in faith. Not even faith in ourselves.
Faith that God has already provided the way for us to receive forgiveness and become righteous. That way is Jesus. I will say that again & again as the Lord allows. The answer to every question is Jesus.
Notice that the first step the Israelites had to take was confession. We too are required to confess our wrongdoings. 1 John 1 tells us that. But, then the good news is that the restitution was paid by Jesus. So He did all the work. He gives us a free gift we have only to accept it.
If you have already this is a good day to praise Him. If you have not today is the best time to ask God to search your heart, reveal His truth to you, confess to Him any wrongs He reveals and ask for His forgiveness. It will be given. And then He will begin to cleanse you while at the same time removing the eternal punishment of eternal death. Ask, recieve, be clean, righteous and forgiven.
